Whitiki tauā mai, e te iwi

It is a new day. With new horizons. And just like before, challenges still pound the shore in tumultuous waves.

But, casting off that albatross from our back, we only need to look to a few weeks ago and the #ToitūTeTiriti activation to see that we are not alone in combating these new fronts.

Tonight, in the fourth part of our micro series leading up to the commemoration of the signing of Te Tiriti at Pohaturoa on Sunday at 6am, we hear some whakaaro from Danae Lee, who though not tangata whenua was with Ngāti Awa when we stood up to protect the treaty and has been by our sides for so many of the fights.

She says Tangata Tiriti is not an identity, it is a responsibility. Nā reira, listen to Danae talk about her thoughts on Te Tiriti and Ngāti Awa from the perspective of a manuhiri.

Areare taringa mai!
