Tonight, we continue with the micro series focusing on Te Tiriti and Ngāti Awa in the lead up to the commemoration on Sunday with some kōrero from our koroua, Tā Hirini Moko Mead.

In this first of two parts; Koro Hirini urges us to uphold and protect Te Tiriti. He says many of our aboriginal rights have been taken from us over the past two centuries, but Te Tiriti is one of the few remaining tools that we have left to protect us.

Koro Hirini reminds us that we must remain resilient. He says as an iwi we have faced many challenges in the past and he reminds us that we will face further challenges into the future. But he urges us to lean on a strong history of resilience and strength of our ancestors to step up and continue to protect te tiriti.

Ka whawhai tonu mātau mō ake, ake, ake!
