Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Awa is reviewing the Ngāti Awa Charter
Submissions are now open for members of Ngāti Awa to put forward suggestions on amendments to the Charter.
The Charter represents the constitution or ‘rules’ of the Rūnanga and specifies its duties and obligations. It sets out, amongst other things, how and who may be elected onto the Rūnanga Board; what the Rūnanga looks like as an organisation, and how it conducts its business.
There are some limitations to altering the Charter, certain clauses within the Charter cannot be amended. These limitations can be found in the Charter itself (Clause 24.2).
The Charter Review is an opportunity for you to have your say on how the Rūnanga should function to best meet your aspirations for whānau, hapū and iwi.
To make a submission you must be at least 18 years old and be a member of Ngāti Awa. The closing date for submissions is Rāmere, August 9, 2024 at 5pm.
Should hapū wish to have TRONA office attend a hapū meeting to discuss the Charter further please notify the office or your TRONA representative.
